Auto DJ volume compensation

Postby wingman » Thu 23rd Sep, 2010 2:39 am

:D Sorry i didnt have a clue what to call this topic... So id best explain...

When i play tracks live, (as apposed to Auto DJ) my software compensates for any older tracks i might have that are of a lower volume, so to the listener they all sound at the same db... I didn't know this i might add until ive loaded the same song files up to AutoDJ and played them from there. The volume on the songs from Auto DJ are up and down like (erm) an up and down thing, from the planet up and down, just past the galaxy where things go up and down a lot... (you get my drift...) :D

Dont know if its possible to do it software side (level them out automatically like on sam or traktor pro) on Auto DJ, but its a suggestion anyway

:)

Although on the good side, i have found a neat little free programme called MP3 gain which will take folders full of mp3s and you can then analyze them put the gain you want and it will normalize them all to your choice of db.
Which saves you having to do them one at a time

you can find it at mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

All ive got to do now is delete my 500 songs ive been uploading all day, Zap them with this thing and then upload them again  Bugger :)

:D

MP3 Gain is good for that. Unfortunately, once files are uploaded it's not possible to MP3 Gain them.

I know that the new sc_trans v2 does have the ability to do that but our autodj doesn't use that as it's such a resource hog. I'll look in to alternatives though (maybe some feature where you can choose to fix levels on all mp3s).
