What is dedicated hosting and what is the difference between dedicated hosting and shared hosting.

Dedicated hosting normally means that you get the full server to yourself. This will also mean that you have full admin rights on the server and it is much more flexible than shared hosting as the web hosting company doesn't need to worry about you doing anything that will affect other users on the server (because there aren't any).

We also advertise our shared hosting service as having 'dedicated space'. This is slightly different and just means that we don't oversell space - so you are guaranteed to be able to use the amount of space you're paying for. The majority of shared hosting is oversold, and this is based on the fact that people hardly ever use all of their allocated space and it saves money.

If you are looking to invest in a web hosting account I suggest that you start with a shared account and move to a dedicated server once the shared account shows its limitations. This is what most if not all webmasters recommend and it is currently the best choice to make. Cheers!
