Album Art downloader / Now playing

Been trying for ages and ages to sort out something that will retrieve album art automaticly from amazon so i don't have to sit for weeks / months downloading, Resizing and adding album images to artist on the Rewind system, then having to upload them all to the server to show on the now playing.

I know this isn't the best of scripts and i know there's better one's out there but i don't want to pay money out for something that doesn't do what i want it to do, or in the manor or layout that i want.
So... i found a script on the net that gets images from Amazon via a simple form. So i thought i can use this, so I've spent two days creating a script to get shoutcast info, add to database and also the download script then automating it so it does what i want and download music thats currently playing on site....

All it does is get the info from shoutcast, displays it on the page and then every 30 seconds tries to send it to the database, if artist already in there, it exits, if not it places artist info in database, gets the image from amazon downloads it to a folder on server and writes that to database too..

This window has to be open for it to work but i'm not bothered..lol In a few weeks it should have recieved most of the images and i've not had to sit adding them all...lol
From then once it's got what it needs, it's just a case of finding shoutcast playing now and tie in with database for an image to display on the now playing section...
As you can see on http://www.xperiencerewind.co.uk/ If no artist it will try to retrieve one.

I'd like to give credit to the guy who made the Downloader script but i can't find where i came across it and theres no mention in the source so i want to just say that part was not done by me.
Let me know your thought's on this script

There's a few litte bugs i've found.. main one is it adds artist to database few times if the artist or group has & in their name.. Strip Chars string isn't solving that so i'm going to spend an hour one day changing names from & to and ..lol
Like i say, it's doing what i need it to do which is saving me ALOT of time...

If you're looking for something like this then there is an API script from last.fm:

I think all of the scripts needed are provided at http://www.last.fm/api

I hope this helps - although I know it's not really 'album' art, it's just artist images.

Hi Gavin...

I looked at that a few weeks back as you sent me link but i wasn't able to find what i was looking for, I was probs looking in the wrong places and being impatient..lol It's still bookmarked so i will be having a better look and hope a better understanding when i get some time to spare to actualy sit and read it properly

What i've done for now is just to fill the images up with album art so the section isn't showing no artist image all the time as i wasn't spending weeks/months downloading and adding them manually..
