latin characters

Postby rbmota » Tue 21st Sep, 2010 8:04 pm

Hi

I'm running a station for which the name includes the word "esperança". Then I see the "ç" disappearing and swapped by a strange character in the player.
Is there any work around (besides changing the ç for a c)?

Thanks

There is no official standard, but most players will correctly decode metadata in UTF-8 unicode.
The problem then lies in the plugin, you use for upstreaming.
I've programmed a workaround for foobar2000 with edcast: A special program reads the foobar titlebar, converts it to UTF-8 and displays the result on its own titlebar. Edcast than has to read the metadata from the helper program.

Edit:
If it's just the station name, you can try to input it directly as: "esperança", which is the ASCII representation of the UTF-8 string. See if that works.
