MP3 format or...

Postby iCWeekly » Fri 01st Oct, 2010 4:52 am

When registering, I thought I saw mentioned that MP3 format was the only format that the free servers allowed. Am I correct in that assumption?

Is it permissible to stream using an AAC v2 codec?

I apologize if this subject has previously been discussed. However, I could not find any such topic via the search function.

The reason everyone suggests Mp3 only for the FREE server is because the Flash player cannot play AAC+. However if you copy the display ads script into your own website you could then add the link to your pls file so that listeners with Winamp,iTunes 10.1 can listen to your station with an external player. MORE SURE you have in your webpage that the ads cannot be Blocked by using any form of Ad Blocker or they will be blocked from listening. You should remind your listeners that they have to re open your page every 600 minutes to keep listening and not to book the .pls link in Winamp or iTunes.

Hope this helps.

Hi iCWeekly and welcome.

TheLegacy is correct, that is just a recommendation because the flash player only supports MP3 but you're welcome to use AAC+ - it just means that your listeners will need to use their own player.
