SAM Broadcasting & FREE Stream Hosting

Postby citypd » Sat 31st Oct, 2009 5:51 pm

Hi

Can I use SAM Broadcasting with the free stream from http://freestreamhosting.org

If someone has done this and has it working, can you share the config of what relay and encoder to use?

Thanks

You can indeed use SAM with your free account.

The servers from freestreamhosting are Shoutcast servers, so please consult the documentation that comes with SAM to see how to stream using Shoutcast.

Here is how I set up my SAM for 128K Mp3:

1. Click desktop B look for Encoders.
2. Click + to add new encoder. Select Normal Mp3. Set it to HQ 128 44.1 sample rate. Then click Server and type in the name of your station. Ex The Legacy. In genre type something like Classic Rock, Prog Rock. Set your password and for the ip/URL set it to what the site gave you for your broadcast URL and port.

Go to my station to hear what SAM sounds like on the FREE account. Enjoy!!

Awesome thanks for the help! I was wondering how the best way to set up my SAM was. Glad I found this post.

Thanks again,

Did you also know that you can record your stream in sam too, so it records everything in real time, the music fades, you talking on the mic (if you do that) :D

all you need to do when you are setting up your encoders in sam is to click on the stream archive, and you get to this by editing your encoder, you will see the top tabs "Converters" "server details" and "Stream Archive". Click on the stream archive and then click the box for for save stream to file... This will then save your complete stream to mp3.

This is good if you want to pre record a show or simply listen back to it later... Works a treat...
