Station won't show up on stationfinder.org

Postby thelegacy » Mon 20th Sep, 2010 12:31 am

My station is The Legacy Album Rock with port 15406 and it just won't show up in the station directory. What is the deal with that? The website says your station will show up on stationfinder.org but I've searched for it and can't see it there.

after reading this post I checked for my station ...

It also wasnt listed :(

I'm assuming it's because of the major server crash on the s5 free server and the subsequent reset of all the settings. I think there are still some things that haven't been fully reconfigured.

@thelegacy ... I'm not sure if your server crashed as bad as the one I was assigned to .. mine was down for weeks. Things like the status indicator still doesn't work and now I find out that the listings aren't showing. So you aren't the only one afflicted by this issue.

Its a free service though... so I can't complain. The s5 server seems a little bit more stable since they fixed it ... I'm sure the admin's will eventually work out the bugs once they are brought to their attention.

I don't know I just came back to this service after beeing gone for a while. Now that I have the AutoDJ service from a different company I relayed it to the FREE server. I figured why not have more listeners lol. My station is an Album Rock station @ s1.myradiostream.com/15406.htm or you can try the short URL thelegacy3.tk maybe we need a Radio station directory that is manually entered for now. Check it out however.

Your problem may lie a bit deeper... I went to the station and it was unavailable .. the ads aren't showing
the player says "Play" ... then switches to "IO:Disconnected".. I have seen this when my server wasn't correctly configured and also when the ad server was down. So at this time I'm not sure if you have a config problem or if because the ads aren't showing .. the player is refusing to connect.

I did notice on both yours and mine (http://s5.myradiostream.com/25598.htm) show the player and under it it says:
***************************************************************************
Can't hear anything? Please try one of the player links.

Play stream in WinampWinamp/iTunes
Play stream in Windows Media PlayerWindows Media Player
Play stream in Real PlayerReal Player

Connection refused, the server appears to be offline.
***************************************************************************

Even though my page shows the same message as yours ... my radio does play. The ads show up on mine though.

Strange thing is ... when I went to my station... at first it didnt play ... but my external player worked.
The second time I went to the site the web player played ... but I still show the above message about connection refused, the server appears to be offline...

>just checked my s5 link again ... it didn't play for me ... refreshed the page .. still didnt play... refreshed again and it played ... tried a couple time more and it played each time. It does show my station title in the player (yours doesn't) and every time it showed the connection refused message below the external links.

Its hard to say .. sounds like the uk1-free server is about to crash and thats why its not playing for me
The connection refused problem is most likely some permissions may not be set up right on the servers but not for the player .. just for the info thats supposed to show under the external links

I guess we will have to wait and see what Gavin has to say about the issues :D

I had to restart the server!!!! Try now it should play. http://s1.myradiostream.com/15406.htm or http://thelegacy3.tk(I embedded the player with ads) I checked it out today and it does work however it still won't show up on http://stationfinder.org I don't know if its cuz no one is tuned to my station or what? Like I said I'd leep it up 24/7 if I can get this to work as its a nice overflow server for me.

Free streams are temporarily disabled from stationfinder due to high load caused on the server by having so many streams to check. They will be put back on soon once I've either had the server upgraded or found a better way.

Maybe only list those that have been up close to 24 hrs. This way its not always on again off again. That way it doesn't have such a heavy load. BTW good job on allowing us to embed. Its something a competitor won't allow. they say that its against Google's Adsense program. its really the reason I chose you guys for my FREE broadcasting host. I think I saw you on my station btw a few minutes ago.

The embed thing isn't against the Adsense program terms, they say that you can't encourage a third party to generate clicks but you can put adsense on to as many sites as you like.

Is there any word of when the FREE servers will be listed on Stationfinder.org? I may try broadcasting again here when its available. I did get a few listeners now and then as well.

Gavin was saying that it gave the server trouble when people went in and out all the time. However maybe posting the newest stations or those that stay on a while would work. Or maybe a sticky radio directory for us FREE users. I may stream on here again if I actually got listeners like I use to when i had my station on stationfinder.org.

Hi,

I know it's been a while since I last said I'd add the free ones back on but I've moved house recently and haven't really had a lot of time to do much with the free service other than make sure that it runs properly.

I am going to do my best to get the free streams back up hopefully this week because the more streams on there the better.

OK guys my station is back up as I'm relaying it from my other paid server. I'm streaming Album Rock,Classic Rock, Prog Rock. I hope everyone likes it. the short url is http://thelegacy3.tk and should hold up pretty good.

I'm hoping it will show up on Stationfinder.org as we really would love to have tons of listeners on it.
