@nngradio I no longer have my Blackberry because of problems with Internet Radio as far as Live365 was and my carrier was not working out. That's why I found a way to do this on the Droid and made it available for everyone.

I'll probably try broadcasting @ 128K again here if the servers start to be more stable. When the free servers were stable I got a few listeners thanks to Stationfinder.org. We'll have to try this again.

No worries. Gavin said before that he found a way, wish he'd let us know sooner.

OK I've discussed this in another thread just above this one. Thanks to http://radiotuner.mobi you can use your FREE station and mobile devices can now listen. All you need do is set up an account, provide them with the ip and port and they provide a URL and then you tell your listeners to open your FREE station's launch page and wait for the google ads to open then they can click on the URL generated by your account. My station has this. To see what I mean check it out:

http://radiotuner.mobi/thelegacyrms

As you see I even put on the top of the page to open the launch page first. Most listeners won't have a problem following the instructions. Right now I stream in 128K but if the stream cuts in and out for mobile users I'll drop it to 64K 22Khz sampling and that should be compatible for most folks listening on the iPhone and Blackberry. If you have a droid you simply use the Blackberry link and all is well it works great.

Still have questions I'll try and help.

You can also use http://listen2myradio.com. They offer mobile listening to free accounts for Android, Blackberry, iPhone and iPad devices and will support up to 5000 listeners. I'll continue to use this up until Gavin gets mobile set up on here. :)

You can see an example on my site: http://tigtownradio.webs.com/listenlive.htm

You need to have a primium account for the mobile app on listen2myradio.com. Plus they will NOT allow you to embed their player on your web site and thus you can't "Legally" embed their URL playlist file link either. So sad for this was one reason I no longer use them. Not to mention they don't have a directory like stationfinder.org very important to FREE users or for anyone on the site for that matter. I've seen numerous complaints about this and you get the same old tired response. Just thought you should know you are already using one of the best FREE services out there. Caster may be a close second but as far as listen2myradio.com their policies still have not changed and I know you'll have little listeners over there.

I only have a free account on listen2myradio.com and I'm able to access mobile listening no problem, and I use it only for mobile. However, I use freestreamhosting.org for my actual embedded player on my site.

So let me see if I have this straight?

A. you are using listen2myradio.com as your Shoutcast host.
B. your using their mobile app somehow for FREE and then
C. your using the google ads script from this site to try and "trick" listen2myradio's firewall to open. Hmmmm so in a sense freestreamhosting.org gets all the credits for their google ads. Even if this were to work and I'm a skeptic here and oh yes you use freestreamhosting's player. Well for that matter you could use listen2myradio's player, wavestreaming's player or what ever else so long as you use the html script for freestreamhosting.org in order to open freestreamhosting.org's Shoutcast ser firewall but if it opened listen2myradio's it means it can't determine who's google adsense is actually being used.

I will say this: Hope you don't advertise your website on listen2myradio for I had on my site to goto my listen2myradio page first before opening my smartphone playlist link that was on my site and listen2myradio.com gave me the riot act. This is why I don't use their crap anymore. Not to mention you don't even have a "REAL" directory that your station is listed. Instead you have a "Sticky" thread that no one hardly reads and is never updated. At least Caster.fm has that. listen2myradio has a very poor FREE server that can handle 3-5 listeners with no buffering at 128K Super duper crap I can run a shoutcast server at my house that can handle that lol (sick sick sick).

The only reason listen2myradio.com runs a FREE server is to bait and switch you to a premium server and even their premium servers are shotty at best I had one. I got better results from MakeAvoice and those servers were VPS which any real Radio broadcaster knows are junk servers. So if you want to use a server known to fail and you have to promote your own station and only have 3 128K listeners before failure than I suppose its worth it. There are other FREE systems beating listen2myradio out of existence.

Sorry I'm ranting but I feel broadcasters need to know before investing so much time with listen2myradio.com they'll tell you they are the best don't be fooled into their hype.

How are these spammers geting through the Catcha or whatever its called where you have to enter the phrase to get in? I see this site inundated with spam from all sorts of things that have nothing to deal with streaming and Internet Radio. I'm not trying to start a flame throwing war, but really we'd be better off without all the spam. If you want to advertise there is a place for this. Unless the phones you are selling can get Internet Radio or you mention something like this:

Android Samsung Sidekick able to receive Internet Radio and stream both AAC+ and Mp3 formats. Or something like this:

Beware of the LG Optimus phones for Internet Radio for they cannot stream AAC+.

But selling stuff that don't deal with Internet Radio or streaming in this section is just spam unless it deals with the subject at hand. Just my two cents worth.

I do delete spam every so often but I admit I don't check often enough really.

Back on topic, paid users of our service now have access to mobile streaming and I am going to roll this out to free users over the next few weeks :)

So i'm guessing the rolling out of mobile links on free services has been delayed by some weeks, months?... a year? lol

Any updates on when this will rolled out Gav?

Cheers =)

I haven't found a good way to do it yet, the mobile links on the paid service are designed to open up the device's default MP3 player. Most mobile devices don't seem to support Flash so it's difficult to embed a stream with ads on the page.

I think I might be able to do it so that there's an entry page with the ads and a link to listen but I'll have think about it.
