SWCast.net licensing for freestreamhosting stations?

Postby Darxxide » Thu 23rd Sep, 2010 5:05 am

Is there a way to use SWCast.net or LoudCity's licensing method with my free stream? I'm not sure what the integration process would entail....

Thanks!

its very interesting what those two sites are doing in terms of legally licencing your station with a monthly fee covering everything including royalties, but its not cheap though is it, i believe its loud city that are charging well over a thousand a year for just 100 listeners, and for a hobby station like most of us here who make no revenue from broadcasting, not to mention i bet they will be making a profit somewhere from the costs, then if you want to go down the legal route, its probably better to contact the copyright people yourself, i reckon it will be a lot cheaper than that, although there will be more paper work involved, if you are using a free stream then its good to keep the cost down...

swcast.net charges about $12.99/mo for about 20 listeners listening 24/7. You can paste the code for the ads on their site and then your stations link would be something like this:

http://stations.swcast.net/yourstation

You can't launch the stream from your web page so you'd have to use a chat box servers like gagalive or several other free chat box services for your station to take requests.

Loudcity offers a complete licensing/hosting package costing $24.99/mo and you get 10 GB's of AutoDJ and 10 listener slots. If you want more slots or storage think $10 for either 10 more listener slots or 10 more GB's of storage.

If you want to sign up for a station legally you can use Loudcaster's service:
http://myradiostation.24ex.com

Then again I don't know if your in any trouble with a small service like the free shoutcast hosts because you may get 5-10 listeners a week but if it really bothers you then I'd suggest Loudcaster only because of the AutoDJ because you can run it 24/7. Being licensed does have privileges such as getting your Radio station on huge publishing services that will allow you to post your station such as Radiotime.com streamfinder.org and a host of others.

Hope this helps.
