How do you change Shoutcast Server Status from Private to Public?

Should be a setting in your encoder.

If using Winamp, go to your DSP and in your Output tab, click on the "Yellowpages" button. Towards the bottom you will see "Track/Title Updates". Check all three boxes, but leave the two text fields empty.

If using SAM, SimpleCast or any other type of encoder made by Spacial Audio, go into your encoder and in the Server Details Tab, put a check mark where it says "List on public station listing (recommended)" and "Enable title streaming".

Not sure what it would be for other encoders, but look for anything that is similar to the above.

If you have a dedicated server and have created the server yourself, look in your settings on the server itself. You should see something that says "Public". You might be able to put "Yes" in there.

I have a feeling that they may be on FreeStreamHosting.org. If this is the case then you can't.

The only difference between public and private servers is the shoutcast directory listing and as the listener needs to view the ads to unlock their IP it isn't possible to tune in directly from the shoutcast directory.
